It is always best to wear eye protection and gloves during assembly. Before uncrating your scooter check the crate! We are not responsible for damage during shipping. If the crate appears damaged contact the shipping company for instructions in making a claim if the scooter is damaged.

After disassembling your crate you are now ready to assemble your new scooter!!. Your bike comes with the keys in the ignition. Remove your keys and open the compartment under your seat. This lock is located either below on next to your seat. Please note on Model GMI 106, 106i, 407, the seat is opened from the ignition. Turn your key counterclockwise without pushing it in to open seat.

Remove contents from under your seat. You will find the battery, owner's manual, and rear view mirrors.

When installing your rear view mirrors make sure you are careful with the threads on the screw. They often have some paint so it is important to screw them in very slowly. Also, make sure you do not screw the mirror all the way to the bottom of the threads. Use the attached nut to make any final adjustments and tighten the mirror to the bike. Please note on Model GMI 406, use the provided allen screws with the spacer. Place the rubber washer on the mirror prior to installation. The spacer is placed on the screw but under the mirror. Also, attach the wires for the turn signal after fastening the mirror. Also on models GMI 107, 108, 109 the left mirrors screw in counter clockwise and right mirrors screw in clockwise.

Remove the battery, electrolyte, and the small screws and nuts from the box. Remove the tape cover from the battery and discard. Remove the plastic wrap from the electrolyte bottle. This is acid so use extreme caution when handling this container. Always wear gloves when handling the acid. Place the plastic container on top of the battery making sure to align the battery holes with the foil cover on the battery acid. Press hard to pierce the foil. Let the acid drip into the battery. Wait until all acid has dripped into the battery before removing the plastic container. Place the empty acid container in a plastic bag before discarding in the trash. There may be a few drops of acid left in the container so use extreme caution when discarding the container!!

Let the battery stand for 10 minutes before installing battery cap. Remove the 2 screws with nuts from the plastic package. Open the battery compartment, which is located in the floorboard of each model. Either 1,2, or 3 Phillips head screws secure it. Place battery inside the compartment. Open the packet found in the battery box containing 2 nuts and 2 screws. These are used to secure the terminals to the battery posts. Place the nuts in the terminal posts of the battery. All wires are attached on top of the battery posts. These terminals can vary by model, they are as follows:

GMI 101i: 2 red wires on Positive side of battery . 1 Black wire on negative side of battery.

GMI 102, 104, 106, 407: Red wire attaches positive, green wire negative.

GMI 107: The red wire hooks up to the positive and the green wire hooks up to the negative.

GMI 108: The red wire hooks up to the positive and the green wire hooks up to the negative.

GMI 109: The red wire hooks up to the positive and the green wire hooks up to the negative.

GMI 406: The red wire hooks up to the positive and the green wire hooks up to the negative. You also have to coonect to each rear view mirror the exact same 2 wires to each other so that the turn signal indicators will operate.

Before starting there are several items to check!!

All of our bikes are shipped with oil but there is always a possibility of some leakage during shipping. Check the oil on all models: On models GMI 107, GMI 107xp, GMI 108 and GMI 109 the 2-stroke oil reservoir is found in a compartment in front of the seat. This compartment is opened with the ignition key. Fill reservoir with 2-stroke engine oil approximately ¾ full. Also, before starting the 2-stroke engines add1 capful of two-cycle oil to the gas tank for the first tank. For 4-stroke engines the dipstick is found on the right side of the bike. Make sure the bike is on a level surface before checking the oil level. Unscrew and clean off the dipstick. The oil level should be ¾ up on the dipstick. Please make sure not to overfill. If the oil level is low use 10W-30 weight motor oil.

Use only 90 octane or higher gasoline. Fill the gas tank and check for any leaks. Sometimes during shipping a carburetor hose may become disconnected. You will notice a small amount of gas leaking if the hose has become disconnected. Please pinch the line closed if it starts to leak. You will find a small door in the compartment under the locking seat. You can open this by removing the screw. This gives you access to the carburetor . You will find a small brass fitting to connect the fuel line if it has come off during shipping.

Test the lights and turn signals

Check the tire pressure, you should run 36 psi (cold) in the front and rear tires

Check the brakes and adjust if necessary. All of our drum brakes can be adjusted with the nut located next to the spring on the brake cable. You should be able to squeeze the break handle about half way. If the handle travels any further than half way turn the nut clockwise several times to tighten the brake handle.

You are now ready to start your new scooters!!!!

You must hold down the left brake handle whenever you are starting your scooter or motocycle. Either kick starting or electric starting.

Kill Switch Is In On Position!!! GMI 102, 104 the red button on the dashboard is the kill switch. Make sure the Red button is in the OUT position (push once it is in, push agian it is in the out position). On modelds 101, 106, 107, 108, 109, make sure switch corresponds to open circle. Circle with an "X" is the off position.

Make sure you are in a well ventilated area. Never start your vehicle in an enclosed area. Place the scooter on the center kickstand allowing the rear wheel to move freely. The first time you start your new scooter you must use your kick starter. It can take up to 15 minutes the first time you start your new scooter. If you use your electric start you will drain the battery!!!! Turn the ignition on and start with the kick start. Remember it can take a while so don't be disappointed if it does not turn over right away. You can always take a break during the starting process. After the motor turns over let it idle for several minutes before riding. Remember, take it easy the first hundred miles. The engine has a break in period so do not drive above 35 mph during this time (the first 100 miles). You will find the engine will perform better after it has been broken in. If you are not familiar with riding a motorcycle you can find a motorcycle safety class in most cities. Remember statistics show most accidents happen during the first few months of ownership.
